2020 Petite Folle
A powerful wine with some ageing potential due to its dusty yet soft tannins that balance perfectly with ripe fruits of blueberry, cherries, sweet spices & a dash of sandalwood. It is enormously complex without lacking digestibility or drinkability. The finish is refreshing & beckons you to take another sip. I would personally decant this beauty next to your favourite protein alongside a mountain of potatoes armed with black pepper, butter, & rosemary. Drink now or hold for many years to come.
A blend of Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon from vines undergoing organic conversion, planted around 1970 in Champigny, in the place called Boutifolle (hence the name of the cuvée!), clay-limestone soils. Manual harvesting yields 30 hl/ha. Total destemming, 45 days of maceration in infusion, little extraction, assembly of free-run and press juices, 12 months of aging in barrels of 225 litres of several wines. It was bottled at the Domaine in March 2022 without fining, filtration or added sulphites.
